Do you have a Guitar Center close by?

Yes, I looked online but they didn't show any.
Music Go Round or other places that sell used ones would be your best bet. Facebook marketplace also be a good place to check.
Go to guitar center online and search violin. There is 147 matches.

thanks, I'll check them out.
Check out reverb.
My suggestion is for you and grandson to visit a violin sale/repair shop near you. The shop person can guide you on sizes and will maybe have one for rent.
Almost 25 years ago, my oldest wanted one (when he was about 10). We rented one sized for him. After about 6 months, he lost interest.
My wife plays on an expensive one. Trust me, if he stays with it and gets good, the price on better sounding ones gets WAY UP THERE.
Appreciate the help, I've found one that I hope is good enough and will last a couple yrs at least. I don't mind spending a couple hundred for a Christmas gift, if he loses interest that's fine, if he learns to play I hope and want's a better one later on that is on him or he can always wait on his inheritance lol.
