    Allison 2003T

My Allison was sitting in my garage for the last 2-3 years covered up. I have owned it since 1999.I recently change a bunch of the filters, gas lines, impeller, seals, lower unit fluid, decarbonized, batteries, new seal for the trolling motor and plugs....... The Boat runs great with no issues. It looks like I have forgotten how to "string" that thing out? I was only able to get her to 82MPH and had to back off. Today it was 80 MPH? I use to run her all day at 87-88 MPH with no issues. Maybe I am not as brave as i used to be! Guess i have to relearn how to drive her?

Some things may have changed with long term storage. If you still have cable steering, may want to make sure they are nice and free and adjusted properly. Sometimes they can stiffen over time. May need to be re lubricated. If you have hydraulic Steering may need to check seals on rear cylinder Or re-bleed air out .Might just need to get the seat time in and get back in the groove.

Driving an Allison is an acquired skill and is indeed perishable with a long lay off.

I'm in the same boat, It stays covered in my boat garage and when I do get it out it seems like I have to relearn how to drive the dang thing. At 60 yrs old I still love my Alley !

Yeah, I think a little over 2 years is a bit long. At least I was able to get her to 80 MPH. Back in the saddle again!!!! I will take her back out and should be good in 2-3 month. I removed the mazco RE 29 did some adjustments and had to lower the motor a bit to put the Trophy 26 back on. Probably no way I would have been able to handle 92 with the mazco.

So, I'm learning here. Why did you have to lower the motor to put the 26 trophy on and why won't the mazco handle 92 mph?

I raised the motor 1" above pad with the mazco. it was dialed in running around 92 MPH. The trophy was set at 1/4 bellow pad and normally runs about around 87-88 pegging the limiter. I use the trophy for fishing. it was my driving skills perishing because i have not driven the boat in a few years.
