Daiwa, Dobyns, IRod, and Okuma all have good entry level swimbait rods. It's not just about the weight, are you looking for a rod to throw treble hook baits or single hook baits?

I have no experience with it, but I'm in the same boat as you. I'm looking at the Dobyns Fury. They have a few swimbait rods available including the 806SB which is rated for 2-8 oz baits.

The DX series is all you need. Great price and good quality. I have caught a bunch of good fish on my rods.

Love that 806SB at any price. And I also have a Conquest 904...just saying. Awesome value there.

Also, pay attention to the handle lengths... some can be extremely long, others can be too short... just something to consider as you want something comfortable that fits you and casts well.

The Daiwa Kage swim bait rods are fantastic and have a great group from which to choose. Kage rods are stocked at The Tackle Trap, so you're welcome to call in or send me a PM for more information about this excellent rod family.

TFO swimbait rod. Great stick that's impossible to put down.

The 806 champ is an awesome rod it’s rated up to 8 ounces a deps 250 weighs 6 and it’s way to much bait for the rod So if you wanna throw bigger baits I’d go x heavy in most options

What kind of baits will you be throwing? What about line type and size? Do you like to play with the fish or are you a no-drag, wind-in-the-fish type guy?

It's a little hard to recommend one rod for that wide of a range. You really need 2 rods imo, one for 2-3.5oz baits and one for 3.5-6oz. And price range would be around $100-150 I'm assuming?

How do you like your conquest 904? I have a 905 and it’s a little too heavy for Carolina rigging, I was thinking of purchasing the 904

So far I love it. Only been fishing with it for about four months. I think it would be awesome for Carolina rigging. I have used it for small to medium sized Alabama rigs, 1 ounce jigs, 3/4 oz dark sleeper. The action on it is fantastic. I can also imagine I would be able to deep crank with it.

Kistler KLX XXH might also be an option. Also on sale at Kistler right now.
