All the money wasted on TV ads, fliers, yard signs, numbers probably in the billions, the percentage of people that were swayed by any of it is probably close to 0.0%. Most people already had their minds made up months ago. There just cannot be any ROI on the money that is spent as a nation every 2 years on this crap.
Just think of the good we could do as a nation to help each other out instead of the current state of affairs.... sigh....
Think of all the jobs that were made designing, making, shipping, placing and removal of those signs.
I know for me not one sign or advertisement has changed the way I think or vote.

Not only worthless signs......but who gets paid to pick them up after the election?
I always try to snag a few of those sign they work good for putting targets on when shooting.

Yep some people count on that buisness especially now when a lot of printing places are struggling.
I saw that the new "Borat" movie was the sponsor of some news coverage of the election - it seemed very fitting for this process.
I think I heard that for the senate race in South Carolina, the guy that lost had spent $104 million.
People willingly give their money to campaigns knowing that their donations will be spent on these signs and advertisements....or the buy the signs outright with their own money. People presuming to tell others how they should spend/waste their own money tells me a lot about their politics.
Its just sales 101. People might think it has no effect but subconsciously it does. I forgot the statistics but you have to be in front of someone X amount of times to even get your product acknowledged by a potential client.
Of course it can work in reverse. Ive seen some political adds so many times I wouldnt vote for them if they paid me.
It's more fun to shoot 'em while they're still in the yards.
