What kind of aircraft? I've seen more over SML in recent months too but I have no idea where they are coming from or going to. Fishing the Potomac River can have so much air traffic you sometimes can't hear yourself think.

I see them occasionally over Briery Creek Lake. Typically there will be pairs of them with one chasing another like the Top Gun deal. I think they are Navy from the Norfolk area. Had some get so low passing over the lake you get the kerosene smell and a breeze.

    Private air craft?

there are a few guys that regularly buzz the lake plus some of the sea planes that practice take offs and Landing. Maybe out of the Louisa airport?

Definitely not private! When I first hear them I have a few seconds to make it to the deck so I can catch a glimpse of the tail which only lasts a few seconds. Hear them for much longer after passing over. Am familiar with the seaplanes. A gentleman at the mouth of the creek has one and he does a fly over to check boat traffic before landing.
