Same parts catalog we use... the Mercury catalog doesn't have the back-end Shopping Cart (though there is a button you can click to supersede part numbers, I believe).

Anyone ever purchase the off brand filters? Just curious as the Merc filters are like 6 times more expensive.

I've inspected several- one of the most common problems is that the crimp sleeve deteriorates and comes apart (making the filter useless, and potentially distributing debris from the filter itself into the system).

Think of it this way: If I offered to pay you $25 to let me sabotage your boat on some random date next season, you'd only find out when you got to the water and it wouldn't work right, would we have a deal?

I don't know about the filter material but the plastic casing on the aftermarket will break when you go to replace it. I had to take the top of the VST off to force the filter back out the top. Quicksilver I believe is OEM.
