It's a 2009 Stratos 201 XLE.Not that it matters because they're not the original latches!

    McMaster Carr

https://www.mcmaster.com/circlips/wi...taining-rings/ is one place to look. Unless you can ID the brand of the latch, you'll need the dia of the surface it's engaging (in mm probably).

Go to the local ACE Hardware,Look in the snap ring bins.Pick out a couple of the larger sizes, you should be able to manipulate one enough to work just fine.Another place to try is Lowes,You would be supprized to see what is in the bins there,GOBS of stuff use your imagination some.

    Called a "C" clip
Might be able to find something that will work at an automotive parts house. Clips were used in the old days holding door/window handles on. Just a thought

Thanks for the replies , I know this a cclip or circlip, but it is different in that the part at top goes under a lip on the latch and that's what keeps the latch from opening. I've tried all of the suggestions above and none of them have this clip. The best I call tell this a Whitecap latch but I can't find parts for them. Southco uses the same clip but according to them their latches are made by a 3rd party company and the clip is not available!!

I'm sure you can find a C clip at a local hardware store that will work.

Have you tried Great Lakes Skipper? They're amazing at having off the wall items.

Would it be possible to buy a latch from Southco and just use the clip? More expensive than just the clip, but.....

Yes that is a possibility but an expensive one. I think I may have found the company that made my latches!
I don't know why companies won't put their name on their products!

I may have located some of the clips. Talked to Ted at Whitecap and he said he knew exactly what I need and would send me some
