    Spinnerbait head color

Do you think it matters? The reason I ask is because I am pouring Spinnerbait heads and would prefer to keep them a standard color and build what I need on the spot. I am thinking a chrome/metallic color would work with almost any color skirt.

I don't think it matters, almost all of mine the paint has chipped off the heads, peeling on blades, etc. They still catch fish

It's winter entertainment to me. I like airbrushing them and making them look fancy, but I totally agree with Hollopoint. I think if you're in the realm of the correct skirt and blade color, you are good to go. It seems like the mangled wire, chipped paint, and tattered skirt chartreuse and white catches them day in and day out.

Like posted above don't think it matters all that much and really anal about my baits. A white head goes with a chart skirt or shad skirt and have even caught them at night with a white head and black skirt.

Matters to the fisherman, not the fish. I mean, if they can not tell the difference between a spinnerbait and a minnow, it's reasonable they can't tell or don't care what color the head is.

Makes zero difference. It's the blades and visibility of the skirt/body. War Eagle makes an extremely popular spinnerbait and their heads are chrome or gold with no details.

So i'll buck the trend, i've caught WAY more fish over the last 25 years on white heads than chartreuse heads, but those are the only colors i can compare. I also generally never put a skirt on a spinnerbait, so that could factor in as well!

No skirt? Do you use a grub or swim bait?

My bait OCD means they have to be painted to match the bait.

I just went through some old spinnerbaits and replaced the blades, swivels and skirts, they work fine even with chipped or missing paint, but if I get bored I might steal my wife's nail polish and fancy them up

But DO NOT GO BY YOURSELF TAKE A FEMALE WITH! I had a bad experience buying nail polish by myself.

It's probably a mental thing for me, but I've done so much better with muted colors even with bright skirts. No idea why. I use all War Eagle (mostly the Trokar series) and the mouse and spot remover both used the same head, with a muted gray-green head. I can put a white skirt or chartreuse skirt or black skirt on and it works fine. If I use one with a white head and a mouse color skirt, it doesn't look right and I don't get bit. Maybe a confidence thing, but these are just dumb fish. They don't know you don't have confidence in it.
