96 Rude

I have a 96 Evinrude 175 intruder. Everything I read says that this should run about 5,500 RPM. Talked to mechanic that said red line is about 6300 RPM. What should I be running Max wide open throttle?

Best propped to run 5300 to 5400, even 5200 if your prop runs best there. HP drops off after those numbers.

Operating range is 4500-5500 with HP rated at 5000 RPM. Rev limiter on the pack is 6100 RPM. You'll know it when you hit it. They want to keep the internals from becoming externals.
