I have been thinking the same thing. I never had one but thought the concept was phenomenal!

They were known to sling a blade. Never heard any complaints on performance.

I know somebody that almost died from a mechanical propeller throwing a blade. There was a lawsuit or two, and that shut them down. Mechanical blades are definitely not a good idea.

any prop can sling a blade i owned one still have the hub and 2 blades there was not a stronger accellerateing prop than the torqshift had this on a 91 skeeter 200 sx 200 yamaha the whole boat would jump out the water i pulled 7 skiers out the water and could only use half throttle as it would rip the handle out their grip the prop took lots of time to set up as u had x y and z cams and springs u had to play with to get it to shift to high gear and downshift as trim and water pressure made it shift mine was rated for 13pitch at take of shifting to 26 pitch

Great prop, but not meant to run too high or you'd sling a blade.
Buddy had one on his Hydrostream. It didn't last long.

When you can sling a solid blade, mechanical ones are way too weak. And that was their main issue. They were weak and couldn't stand much HP at all, and that's when the max was 150 HP.
