Have either one of you tested the new Garmin Garmin GT56UHD-TM ??
If you have what are your thoughts?

I wonder if these will work with the "old" Ultra units.

Interesting, less frequency power than the 34 and 54, 1000 khz compared to 1200 khz?
Also Mr. Ring Fry might know something also, I think he has been a beta tester for Garmin in the past?

Was thinking the same thing.....back the frequency down to scan out further but still get a crisp image... i think the new color images will help with images.

Yes, I have been running a GT36 for several months. Compared to the fixed frequency of the GT34 (ClearVu - 800 kHz; SideVu - 1,200 kHz), the GT36 offers 455, 800, and 1,000 kHz for both ClearVu and SideVu. I have been very impressed with its performance. No question, this is Garmin's best scanning transducer to date, at least out to the depths I have used it (out to 50 feet). The SideVu depth limitation of the GT34 (25 or 30 feet deep) has been eliminated with the GT36. SideVu worked very well out to the 50 feet maximum depths I have tested it in. I also really like several of the newly added color palettes.
Yes, the 36 and 56 will be compatible with the existing Ultra units. I don't yet have a comprehensive list of all compatible units.
Here are the specs of the GT36 and 56:

Great, just what I need spend more money I don’t have .
Here is the list of the units compatible with GT36/56:
ECHOMAP UHD 7x/9x
ECHOMAP Ultra 10x/12x
GPSMAP 8400/8600xsv Series
GPSMAP 7x3/9x3/12x3
GCV 20 – GT36 only
Also, the supported software bundles have now been posted on the Garmin website.

The specs look pretty good on the GT56. Looks like a GT50 with the addition of 1000kHz with high wide chirp 2D instead of mid-chirp. I think the 2D should provide better target separation (which would be a nice upgrade) and the 1000kHz has a fair bit narrower aperture than the 800kHz on the GT50.
I have the GT50 now (and I love it) but that does not mean that I could not love the GT56 even more. I did not get the GT54 with my 106 because I already had the GT50 and I had hopes that Garmin would come out with a transducer exactly like this.
I can't wait to see some real world pics and videos. I watched the marketing video posted in the other thread and I have to say I am a little bit excited.
I guess my question is those who got to beta test the new transducers did you also get to beta test the new software? Interesting calling it ghost reject, I’m wondering how it affects the seeing targets in interference area?
I didn't know this was set for release today so I wasn't quiet ready for it. Grabbed these today. It will do better with better settings. I think this is their new best transducer. Yes, better than GT50 in that it is more adaptable to difference situations.

Im interested in seeing some of the GT36 images.....the GT34 was shitty.....not sure what to think about the 36 .....

Thanks! Those pictures look pretty nice. If you get any to where the 1MHz is failing to produce a great picture that would be interesting. I will wait a little bit but I will upgrade (maybe Santa can get me one) before next spring. The better 2D + the higher freq option is exciting. Any idea if the hole pattern on top is the same as the GT50? If it is then I can just unscrew and rescrew which would be nice. If not then I will have to drill a couple more holes.
What is the overall size compared to the GT50?
Leonard, great looking images!
Waiting on Donnie to post some pics with the new colors......

I don't have one, but the specs on the ClearVu and SideVu are identical. Looks like it is a GT56 without 2d. Two things impressive. Range and detail. Like you, before I pronounce final judgement on the GT36 I'll wait to hear from someone who has used it. I'd be willing to place my bets on it though. 455, 800, 1000. This is the first time I've said Garmin had a better transducer than the GT50. Shallow water guys are going to love the range, even on 1000 kHz. Deep water means going to a lower frequency. Looks to me like a one size fits all transducer. Set the frequency for the situation. Best all around. And I have two GT50's on a Y cable. Also I like the 150-240 on the 2d better than the 80-160. I don't have a scientific basis for that. It's just a personal preference.

Thank you for posting Mr. Winchester very nice. So these are from Garmin not you?
