2014 250 pro xs....might have just avoided a huge problem on lower unit

    Guys,

Need some opinions, went to change lower unit fluid on 250 pro xs. Been running great no issues just getting prepared for a big trip. When I pulled the plug....nothing but water in the lower gear case. Thoughts on cause? Possible failed water pump gasket above or am I looking at gear case seals?

    Thanks much in advance.

Most likely a seal failure. Refill with lube to prevent rust and get it in ASAP for a pressure test to diagnose and repair.
