New method for me is successful

I have taken deer with a variety of methods over the last 35 years, including compound bow, crossbow, muzzleloader rifle, centerfire handgun, and centerfire rifle. Decided to up my muzzleloader game this year and bought a CVA pistol. Sighted in for 100 yards, and uses two 50 grain Pyrodex pellets under a 250 grain Hornady MonoFlex ML bullet. Burris 2-7x32 scope tops it off (my old eyes are not open sight friendly any longer). Shot this big doe at 40 yards yesterday during the Oklahoma muzzleloader season. Found the bullet under the skin on the opposite side. It is the first of thes bullets I have recovered. All others were complete pass through.

I bet there is pretty noticeable recoil on that thing? Congrats on breaking it in quickly.

It has about the same level of recoil as a stout .44 mag hunting load out of my T/C Encore pistol. Not terrible, but definitely noticeable.

Looks like a Barnes bullet...that's impressive as hell..everybody fusses about core lokts but I got bookoos of em thru the years from 308s to 300 wsm that I pulled out of deer..I like it when the bullet does what it's supposed to do...weight retention... expansion...full force....knock down power....congrats on the pistol freezer queen...

Wow , that is very impressive. Nice job. I'm going to try 2 white hot pellets and a .50 cal TC 200 gr sabot this year.
