Anyone ever removed the white bushing on seat pedestals!

I ordered one because the middle one had a chunk knocked out from the previous owner. I haven’t spent a lot of time with it but initially it looks like it’s in there pretty good. Any tips?

They're pressed in the pretty good. Sawzall. Long blade down the hole and cut lengthwise. I just replaced both on an 89 Sabre I restored and they weren't coming out any other way.

This. If using a power saw, be very careful not to cut into the metal tube. I used a broken piece of a hacksaw to do mine. Cut two vertical slices about a quarter-inch apart. Then knock the small wedge out with a punch. You can then get the remainder out pretty easily.

Ok thanks. Then insert the new one and tap in with a rubber mallet?

Use a keyhole saw, it’s easier for me anyway, like said above don’t cut anything but the sleeve

If you can get it to seat with a rubber mallet, you are a better man than I. Took a three pound drilling hammer and 2x4 to get mine in.

Sounds like I’ll put the new bushing in the drawer and leave the current one alone. It works even with the chip
    in it. Thanks

That should work with the chip. Removal is with a jig saw blade and cutting the sides. Install is covered here with a 2x4 and small sledge.

It is a challenging installation........ But it is worth it if needed.

It's really not that big of a deal. Probably took me 10 mins. I didn't even have to make 2 cuts. The width of the blade on one cut was enough to pull it out. 3 lb sledge and a chunk of 2x4 and pound away.
