    Intermittent Power Loss (2000 200 EFI)

    S/N: OT156680

    I had one burned up regulator, so I replaced both and now charging well. Launched boat in 42*F weather and it started, idled and jumped on plan with no hiccups. Loses power (about 4,200WOT) for 5-10 minutes, then takes off like a rocket. This happened a dozen times throughout the day, but less frequently. Sure seems electrical and not fuel the way the engine will gain and lose power like you killed ignition to 2 or maybe 3 cylinders like turning a key. I've read threads on the injector driver boards and how they loose up? Very similar issues if I'm deciphering the description right.

    Any help is appreciate. I'm tempted to look for a computer on ebay and throw it on. Thank, Mark.

    Sounds like the ECU - I have a 1996 Mercury 175 that did the same exact thing and once I replaced the ECU with a new one problem was solved.

    Definitely sounds like you may be on to something. There are tests in the Factory Service Manual (requires a DVA and a DVOM) to check the injector driver circuits (must be done while the problem is occurring).

    Simon Performance Technologies (aka: Simon Motorsports) does a good job with replacing the drivers in those ECU's.

    Thank you guys. Brucato ACU on its way tomorrow. I will look into getting my stock ECU checked and repaired. Impatient and running out of weather this year. Can't handle winterizing with a problem. I'll follow up with results.

    All good with the new Brucato ACU. Now it's time for some setback and new prop.

    Xmas may come early.
