    Caymas CX18 SS Top Speed?

I am buying a Caymas CX18 SS. I am just waiting on trolling motor and electronics to be installed. Does anybody know top speed? I could not find anywhere online. Also, what are the pros and cons so far? Thanks!

Did you get it with a 150 or 175? Either way I believe you are the first one on here to get one so we’ll be watching for you to post your numbers.

Did you buy it? How do you like it and how fast does it go?

I am getting it with a Yamaha 150 SHO. I believe they dropped the HP to only a 150. I am waiting for the boat to have the trolling motor and electronics installed.

I think there is a “GTS” option that allows a 175. Subscribing...definitely want to hear about your new Caymus and how you like it!

I have the 18' GTS. It came with the 175. Not sure if it's an option for the S and SS. I would assume that it's the same hulls and would be able to upgrade at purchase on the S and SS if you wanted the 175. There was only a $5K difference in the GTS and the SS at my dealer.

Sgthagins-I forgot but did your boat come with a jack plate? Or was it an option?

nevermind-I remember now that you have a jack plate. Was it standard or an option?

Manual jack plate was standard option. The hydraulic jack plate was an upgrade.

What kind of speeds are you seeing with the 175?

I've never hit more than 60 mph. And that was with a half empty tank and the water was pretty smooth.

Wow I would have expected mid 60s. Originally they were going to rate this model for a 200 and I wish they would have.

I’m also very surprised you can’t do at least 62-63 in those conditions. The ones with the 150 PROXS must not do more than 56-57

That boat with a 150 should hit 60 MPH loaded. I would be low 60s with a 175.

The new 175 4s PROXS must not really make the same power as the older 175 PROXS like I have. I’ll bet the hole shot is better though with the new one being 3.4L vs my 2.5L.

I remember reading where someone dynoed a 2.5L PROXS 175 2s and it was near 189 horsepower. Maybe the new version is more accurately 175.

for reference, my Triton does 62-64 depending on conditions, and that’s with two guys and a boatload of gear, half tank (since that’s about where I usually maintain the gas level.) when my son was younger and smaller, we went 66 one morning on a lake in Northern Michigan! Never to be repeated though.

Right. But knowing how their other boats run, I'm confident in those estimates.

Any info on the top speed with this combo yet?

Also how do you like the boat and the quality of the build?

I got the boat yesterday finally. My thoughts after 2 days. Night and day better than my 2012 Nitro Z6. The boat gets on plane great, even with 75% fuel and live wells full. I am still in the break end period, but I have hit 58.8. I think I can get 60 but running mostly lower rpms right now until I get past the 10 hours. The boat does start to wobble over 55. I talked to a few guys at boat ramp and they said I need to raise motor on the jack plate

That's interesting. Are you going to raise the motor? If so, will you let me know the results?
