HDS 12 (on bow) flickers when I use the power poles.

The more I use the poles the more dramatic the flickering gets. Yes, the batter is becoming drained, but it shouldn't be this bad. The battery is a new Northstar 31, maybe the best AGM battery made. Also, the front unit shut off when I started the engine after 2.5 hours of fishing. Where should I start looking for the problem? The front unit's power source (in the bow) should not be impacted by the power-pole connection at the battery. Thanks in advance for any help.

Wire your sonar units isolated and direct to your battery. I did mine that way and it made a big difference in their performance. Someone makes a wiring harness for that. I made my own.

The flickering is usually power related issues mostly with wiring. Use heavier gauge wiring either direct to the battery or fuse panel mid boat.
