They had one at the mill mounted on a tripod in front of the lime kiln. It fired a slug down the drum to remove lime slake. Wouldn't ever want to shoulder one.

Looks like a ball and cap. Biggest one I have used was a 10 gauge Ithaca, we used them to shoot geese.

Back in the days of market slaughtering waterfowl they would mount them on boats and blast the waterfowl while they were sitting on the water. Hence the term "sitting ducks"
My grandpa used to shoot 2 and 4 gauge punt guns as a market gunner. He had quite a few stories about them.
