    Surge brakes

I installed a new master cylinder, shock and reverse lockout sol. Brakes work amazing but if u hit brakes just right it does exactly that, it surges, u have to let off brakes and smoothly apply and then all good. Have u guys experienced that

I just did the same on my trailer this past June. It does work great now, but I'm not experiencing the same as you. Did you bleed thoroughly? No matter how I apply the brakes, (suddenly, slowly) etc. they're smooth and apply and release without any surging.

Anything loose? Hitch mount on your truck, tongue on trailer, axles or calipers...

Naw, all is tight as a tick. What blows is I installed a new shock also. I bleed with a vacuum bleader, flushed entire system. So I am bam boozled myself so to speak lol

Hmm. Some masters have a spring that pushes the tongue back. Is yours in good shape?

My guess is you have two things that can cause this. Something moving that shouldn’t during the braking process that changes geometry or something sticking during braking.

How many miles on it since you did the work?

Maybe 100, if that, I have checked all, replaced all, if you are smooth it is smooth if you have to hammer brakes it starts the surging crap.....

If the pushrod loses the clip or pin at the end, it will be an on/off effect with no progressive brake in between. Remove the pushrod and try pulling the two pieces apart. If they separate, replace the pushrod. Also check the release tap that the pushrod slides through. Occasionally they will get distorted by accidentally getting hit by the ball when hitching. If the brake release tab is distorted or not moving up and down freely, replace the latch assembly.
