    461 to a 518

Would there much benefit going from a 1996 461vs to a 1999 518SVX as far as ride and performance?

Don't think either is great with ride, might be a little better in the 518 with performance. But, both are great to fish out of.

I made the exact same switch as you. Went from a 97 461 to an 06 519. To be honest I thought the 461 rode better than the 519. Now that being said I LOVED the 519 as a fishing platform. The 461 was a great fishing platform as well. Both great boats. To me the 519 had a flatter hull than the 461. Now I currently have a 520 and all I can say is WOW. What a great boat.

I have also owned both these boats and these comments or dead on point. The flatter hull on the 518/519 vx is due to its wider front deck. Preference between the two is that I prefer the 518/519 due to better layout and wider front deck. If I recall, the front storage box on the 461vs does not have a flat floor bottom and is not conducive to tackle storage.

The layout of the 518/519 is perfect for a 19' boat.

These things maintain their value well. I traded my 18 yr old 461 four seasons ago for $7500. But that is high. I'm guessing you should be around 10k??

I purchased my 99 518 VDX a month or so ago for $15K. It came with an Optimax 200 with about 350 HRs on the engine.

I disagree. One of the best riding boats that I've EVER sat in was my 1997 461VS.

Being a former 1997 461vs owner, I confirm that for being an 18' hull, it is a very good rough water ride

I think your making a good choice but mainly because the price of the 518 sounds 3-4 k high. I just bought a mint 04 519 vx with new cover , 200 EFI with less then 200 hrs, Ultrex, two 900 series HB units, New endurance tires for 18K.
