Can I shoot just one 50 gr pyrodex pellet?

Is it safe to shoot using just one 50 grain pyrodex pellet? I'd like to plink and check some velocities. Any reason I can't ust just 50 grains? Will be shooting a varitiy of bullets including a 245 powerbelt.

    Thanks.

This is from the Hodgdon page https://shop.hodgdon.com/hodgdon/pyrodexr-5050-pellets
"Pyrodex 50/50 is a 50-grain pellet designed for use in 50 caliber, in-line rifles. A single 50/50 pellet may be used for a light target or small game load while two 50/50 pellets may be combined to provide a potent 100 grain equivalent load for big game.

50 grains of loose powder will work for sure. I have no experience with the pellets. I would ditch the costly pellets and use real powder if it were me.

I agree. Blackhorn 209. Many more shots between cleanings and less smoke when shooting. Might need a different breech plug. My grand daughters deer hunt using 60 grains. Would probably drop to 40 for light shooting.
