Humminbird 1198c and 360 connecting issues

I'm trying to connect the Humminbird 360 to a 1198c but for some reason the the head unit is not recogonizing the 360 (non mega). Currently I've completed all updates to the 1198c. I have both the 1198c and the 360 power running to a busbar at the console and I've ensured that both do have power. I've talked to HB help line and while they were more than helpful in getting me getting things set up, they were not able to help with getting the unit to connect to the 360. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

To check if the 360 is getting powered, get real close to it when you turn on the power, it will vibrate and make a slight buzzing sound for a couple of seconds.

From there, if powered, the Ethernet connection has to be functioning and it takes about a minute for it to be recognized before you can turn the pinging on. You can tell when it is recognized since the unit will change views, I think it goes to the Chart view, been over a year since I used that model.

I can hear the 360 humming when we connect power, so I do know it's working. I've left both units on for 30 minutes hoping it would connect but nothing. It just won't recogonize it.

Do you have a 360 view in Simulator?
The 1198 got a software update in Feb, 2013 that added the 360 software.

Otherwise the Ethernet connection would be suspect.

I've updated the 1198 to version 7.670, which is the latest update for the unit. When online with Humminbird techs, they walked me though the processes of ensuring the unit was set up properly but after not being able to connect to the 360 they were as lost as I am on why it will not connect. As far as the 360 view in simulator, I have no 360 view period. I have all views for a regular transducer, down side views, but as told by the Humminbird tech's, unless the 360 connects I will have no options for 360 views. There's also an update for the 360 I need to install but without the 360 connecting I can't complete that update.

I also considered the ethernet connection, but since I don't have access to another one, I ordered one just in case, but I won't know if that's the problem for another week or so.

That statement by HB for the 360 views is while under Normal Mode operation. Should be able to see a 360 view under Simulator Mode without one connected. Make sure 360 views are not hidden.

The only thing that references a 360 is on the status page, which shows 360 undetected. There's not another location, that I can find, which references the 360. Now to be honest, I'm normally a Lowrance user. I picked these up used because I know of their value in eliminating water, and helping locating fish on off shore locations. I've read through both the 360 and 1198 manuals and also spend a long time with humminbird tech specialist, and nothing was ever mentioned about Sumulator Mode, so if you can expain how to do this, (please remember I'm normally a Lowrance user, so dumb it down for me), I can give it a try when I get home this afternoon.

When you first start the unit up, you get a screen that states to push MENU for startup options. If you don't do that it will go to Normal and then you push the EXIT button.
When you push the MENU button in time, you get a pop-up menu to choose Normal or Simulator===select Simulator.
That is a recorded sonar log that plays back all the unit functions so you can practice with the unit with functions that actually work. You see what the settings do for each feature. You can scroll though all the views, set them to be hidden or visible, and every other function available when in normal use. You can do software updates and waypoint management in Simulator.
When Simulator is running, you have to turn the unit off to get out of Simulator.

Before you get that started, run the unit in Normal and go to the Setup menu and turn Demonstration OFF. Then restart the unit to get the screen you need to select Simulator.

Thanks! I'll give it a try this evening when I get home.
