    Tuff Bunks

Broke a bunk a few weeks ago on my Z21 trailer. Was trying to unload it on a low water ramp and while pushing it off the trailer, I slipped and stepped on a bunk and broke it.

Figured it was as good as time as any to replace all the bunk boards with Tuff Bunks. Came out pretty slick, loving them so far and they are about half the price of the other "forever trailer bunks" I've seen.

Looks nice how much that set you back? I see the newer z21 have a different bunk layout than my 18. Tuff bunk also doesn’t offer a long enough length for my setup

About $400 for all of them I think. On the stock trailer, there are actually two long center bunks, instead of four shorter bunks. I split them into shorter bunks when I ordered them. They can get them up to 12' I believe, but I have no idea how they would ship them to me or how much it would cost.

Either way you go, I choose gatorbaks. Its a good investment on any boat.

I’m curious about the required radius for the Nitro bunk boards. They are a 3/4” radius I believe and the squared edged definitely won’t work so how are you guys using these?

I have no idea what "radius" you are talking about. The Nitro trailers are 2x4's wrapped in carpet.

There is no radius to the 2x4s they have on their trailers.

i believe he is talking about the nvt hull boards. The z21 isn’t an nvt hull.

The z21 still has the 3/4 radius. On my 18 it’s just one set of bunks but believe the newer ones may have more

All of my boards have the radius. I guess these just won’t work for my NVT hull.

If your set on these I’m sure a phone call would maybe get you a special order. Can’t see this being a big deal

how are the tuff bunks holding up for you now? Still looks as good as it did before? Would you go back to carpet or you prefer these from now on?

Still look fine, no issues with them yet.

No, I wouldn't go back to the shitty carpet bunks for anything. The biggest thing I had to get used to was the boat loading/unloading differently. With Tuff Bunks, the boat does not slide as easily...but I just put the trailer in a bit deeper.

You can power load on tuff bunks? Also, when launching, any issues? I would think they are slick abs not tacky by the physical appearance?

on the nvt hulls you need to use a router and a 3/4 roundover bit for the edges. I'd lay money that using the bunks with square edges is going to wear grooves into the hull over a pretty short period of time. Gatorbak makes covers for the nvt type hulls.

Even my bunk boards on my z21 had the routed edges.
