That’s a good caliber, but a tad expensive...

The other is a Thompson Center Encore pro hunter this gun dose not like either of the Hornady SST. I shoot Federal Premium
Nosler Partition 130. it is a 1" at 200 yard gun.
For some of you guys that shoot a lot is there and difference in accuracy between a Blued barrel gun and a Stainless steel gun.
I have both and I don't see any difference but I only deer hunt.

Bought a Weatherby 25.06 last year for my son. We have killed 3 deer so far and none have went more than 40 yards light recoil and massive internal wound. Hornady is what we shoot

I found this interesting years ago. I had no idea. I shot a 30-06 for years with Federal Premium 165 gr ballistic tips with great results. I bought a 270 and the federal premiums for it. I could not get that rifle dialed in. Talked to a friend of mine and he said try different ammo. I went out and bought 130 gr Hornady's. The holes touch.I guess it doesn't like Federal

That's quite a spread in bullet weight too. Could be the rate of twist doesn't like the heavier slug or something? Glad you found a round that works and sounds like you've got a great deer-killing combo but an 06 (ought) to be able to handle a heavier slug. 130 is getting a little light for big game like bear and moose where hunters often use around 180 gr

The 140gr bullet weight is spot on for deer size game and the little model 7 is extremely light to carry and point
    I have a 7 in .308, its my favorite.

My ruger m77s are finicky. My m77mkii .270 win likes horady 130s...wont shoot remington core lokt for anything, it hates anything winchester but does ok with federal

My m77 243 loves nosler partitions 100gr...shoot hornady superformance pretty well

Both of rem 760s dont care what they shoot...they a super consistent

My 22-250 likes nosler 50gr but loves hornady vmax 50gr

Havnt figured out what my rem 700 classic 300 winmag like yet...only got about 15 rounds through her

Since you can't have to many guns I am currently planning on using my late uncle's 30/06 for white tail deer from now on. I used it this year with great success with 150g American whitetail hornady. I have used 243 with 95g before, as well as 300wsm with 150g but now I will use the 243 with 75g vmax for yotes, the 300wsm 180-200g for elk and I want to add a 270(wsm)? For speed goats probably in the 130g range. Thinking of adding a 6.5creed in a tikka t3x tac for playing with gongs. And not that it is a "rifle" but I'm probably going to get a cmmg banshee 200 in .40sw and I feel like that in a 8" barrel will take a deer in a slough.
