My dad says no out of state fishing, but not sure how it's enforced outside of not issuing non-resident licenses. The rangers may also be looking for out of state plates in the parking lot.

When you go thru the pay booth at Marina Del Sur they look at plates and ask for a drivers license. Out of state can launch at Dam Site Marina but I believe the ramp is out of water so that means launching from shore. If you do launch, your not supposed to go past the federal waters which is marked by large red bouy's a short distance past Elephant Island. I'm not sure how that is enforced. North of the bouy line is controlled by the state park.

Based on an article in today's Albuquerque Journal, the Governor is going to use Game and Fish agents to enforce her mandates at state parks. Out of state plates and drivers licenses will be a non-starter in this most recent lockdown...

Stroker, nice seeing you Tuesday. 94mph in a boat is insane, i know you’ve been over 100mph here in NM.

Fowl, it was great floating and talking the other day. If you get down and want to fish give me a call.

Governor MLG just shut down the state for 2 weeks starting Monday. I think it's going to be tough for any travel into or out of New Mexico for a while. Cases are spiking all over, so it's going to get sticky for a while I'm afraid....

The lake is still closed. Elevation has come up 4 ft since the end of Sept 2020.

Wow, that's a nice improvement in water levels! Is the lake closed for everyone or just out of state people?

The lake opened today for NM residents. Hours are 7am to 4pm. We'll see how long it lasts.

My dad just showed me pics of Elephant Butte from 12/18 and it looks super, super low. Is it still rising and coming back or did they start dropping it again?

The lake has come up about 7 1/2 ft since the end of Sept. It is still 40 ft lower than last year this time. It is about 7% of capacity. The folks down south will be in trouble for water if there isn't some good rains and snow north of here.

Wow, okay, thanks for the update. I drove to Clovis for Christmas and there was no snow anywhere in Ruidoso and Baldy was pure dirt as I dropped off the summit. Lots of snow needed at Alamosa down to the Sandias to assist with those water levels...
