Last year while closing a couple storage compartments, I accidentally had the compartment latch in the wrong position, and dinged up the inside lip of my gel coat in two of my most used storage compartments. On top of that, I had a Non Boater standing on one of my rear storage compartments that was not properly closed. Even though you can't see the gel coat damage when the compartment is closed, it still bugged me. After some trial and error, I came up with a solution that would prevent further destruction of the gel coat on the inside lip of all the storage compartments and live wells.


Ranger Strike Plates are made of 6061 Aluminum, and come in 3 hard coat anodize colors. Blue, Black, Clear Silver. Plates are form fitting to the inside of the compartment, and only take a few minutes per/plate to install.

Complete sets cover all storage compartments, (including live wells, coolers, and rod boxes) for any model Ranger boat year 2008 and up.

A complete set is from 9-13 plates depending on Ranger boat model.

Yes, these plates can be mounted using 3M automotive molding & trim attachment tape. I mounted 4 plates in my boat a couple of weeks ago using the 3M tape. So far they are holding good.

If it looks like they will work long term, I will likely make a few "stick on" sets, and see if there is any interest.

I like the idea of a no drill installation and the 3M molding & trim tape is one of the best products I've used for this type application. I'm guessing they'd be a little less expensive, since the mounting holes wouldn't have to be drilled/counter-sunk and you wouldn't have any fastener expense.

My plan was to purchase a set yesterday, but I was on the fence about drilling a bunch of holes in my new boat.

If you decide to make some stick-on sets, I'll take a set in RED.

Yes, the stick-on plates will for sure work. Maybe in the next month or so, I can build a few stick-on sets, and see if there is any interest.

There seems to be enough interest in the "No-Drill" strike plates, so I'm going to build some "Stick On" sets and see how it goes. Colors will be the same as before: Red, Blue, Silver & Black. The plates will mount with 3M waterproof double sided tape.
I'm in the early process of making the new version "Stick-On" style plates. I should have some sets ready by the end of this month. Not sure about the price per/set yet, but they will likely be under $75 a set.
