    Chevy 4.3

Anyone towing with the 4.3? I have a 175TF and looking at a new Silverado and wondering how they do, won't be pullng anything heavier with it.

How much weight is your truck rated to tow? That's the important part. It's been a while since I've had experience with a 4.3 but IMO it should do just fine.

It will tow it fine. My friend's dad bought a new Sierra quadcab with the 4.3 and that thing is quite strong for what it is. He pulls an old fiberglass Ouachita with a 75 Johnson with it. I wouldn't pull a big glass lead sled with it but these tin rigs that probably don't weigh over 2000 loaded to fish I wouldn't think twice about it.

I knew someone that had a half ton chevy with a 4.3 and a 5 speed. It pulled a car trailer and small horse trailer just fine. A 175 will not be a problem.

A midsize truck or small SUV will pull a 175 no problem, a full size with a 4.3 will pull it fine however I would highly recommend getting a V8 in a 1/2 ton truck, more economical in the long run.

I believe the turbo 4 cylinder has better torque numbers than the 4.3.

Pulled a 18' Champion with a 175 on the back with 4.3L in a Chevy Blazer for a few years without any problems at all.

I had a 95 Silverado 4.3, pulled 20’ and 19’ glass boats. No issues. I believe it was rated 7k to 8k back then. It will do fine.

tow my tracker 175 with a 4 cylinder Audi q5 all day. NO problems whatsoever, sometimes shallow ramps get tricky having to back in so far into the water and the vehicle being fairly low compared to a truck, but on the road its like there is almost nothing behind me.
