2016 RP 190 bow porpoises with trim

2016 Ranger RP190 with 115hp Mercury. Running 21p Laser 2 and 6 inch hydraulic plate. I have to trim up to max to get 42-45 mph at WOT. When I do, the bow will porpoise with the least ripple forcing to trim down and plow to level out and then trim up again. Anyone else run into this or recommend fix?

Can you trim down a bit to stop the porpising without losing any speed? I had an xpress boat that did the same back in the day, and if you just bumped the trim down a couple times it would stop.

I have been told a little prop work will cure that. There is a guy on here - Mark that does prop work

I have that same boat with an aluminum 17p 4" set back 2nd hole, it will run 45 at 6000 all day, like to try a 19p. If I try to give it any trim in the midrange it will porpoise.

21 is too much prop for that hull. 20" Laser or 19" X7. With the pad hull and JP, you'll love the X7.

A lot of money has been spent trying to get 46 mph out of a 45mph boat.

Truer words rarely spoken....especially on aluminum bass boats.

To the op original question....VERY FEW of the aluminum bass boats will go to 100% full trim without porpoise.

Thanks for the replies, I will try a 19. I'm not as worried about speed as much as porpoise. When I trim down much at all I lose all my speed.

My 2016 Ranger RP190 with a 21p Laser II went 51-52 mph easy after Mark Croxton worked his magic on the prop. No porpoise at all.

with jack plate motor height should not be an issue your speed sounds about right at max 6000 factory specs you might try 21 pitch 4 blade and see it that helps maybe dealer will let you try one i can say turning pointe makes a great 4 blade 21 that will nit break the bank

A Hydrofoil stabilizer will cure your problems. I've got a 115 Mercury on a RT 188 and have hit 47 GPS with a 3 blade aluminum. My Jack plate is out now so 44 is max. I can use full trim
