    Hero 9 Black

    Has anyone tried it yet? I have the 8 Black but after all the GPS/Software issues Im thinking about trying a different camera.

    I have an old Hero 3 and was looking at the 8’s because they were on sale. What problems are they having.

    The only issue I have had with it, is the software. Now GP has zero software to install on your pc to edit videos, they want you to do it all off your phone. That does not work for me. And even the SW they had would not extract the GPS info, I had to buy a 3rd part sw to extract it, then bring it into the GoPro quick and add the gps layouts.

    I've only had my 9 for a few days but am already impressed. Update downloads are simple and quick and nowhere near the pain the 7 is. Having a viewable screen both front and rear makes framing much simpler and more accurate. As to editing, I use a third party program on my MacBook anyway and it works just fine.

    What SW are you using? I had to buy telemetry extractor just to get the GPS data off my vids, but it has no editing capabilities.

    I dont know if it will extract GPS coordinates but it's my favorite for editing.

    Just curious if you had problems with the 8 black overheating and shutting off? My 7 black does and I'm looking to replace it.

    I have mine mounted either on the front of the drivers console or on my yolotek all day in the Tx heat and never had an issue with it shutting off.

    My 8 definitely shuts down from overheating it is the worse of any GP I have. Its so bad I quite using it and went back to my 3plus

    I've seen where filming in 4k will cause the overheating problem. Switch to 1080p.

    Just for clarfication, I have mine 1080 lowest frame setting in looping mode and it still shuts down.
