Congrats..I looked at that boat a few weeks ago. Have the shop check the transom repairs around the mounting bolts. Also, most of the trailer boards don't have bolts in them, need to check for blisters on the hull where there is no bunk carpet. When I looked at it, it had an aluminum street sign over the mounting holes that was held on with 4200, I pulled it off to check transom, that's what the white bead of stuff is around the transom. Good Luck

yes, it was quite the sight. First one for me. I got a good chuckle out of it, I believe it was a speed limit sign.

Was the transom OK? What was the reason for the glued on sign?

Sounding like the previous owner cut the sign down to use it as a motor brace, sure hope for the OP that the transom isn’t gone, kick in the guts if it is.

I think it was probably ok, just a very odd repair. The boat was so filthy I didn’t want to crawl down in the back and look in the bilge. I was looking for something to build and flip, and it needed more than what I thought I could get out of it. The OP bought it from someone who bought it from the guy who had it when I looked at it, who bought it to flip. Haha. There’s always money to be made. Lol

Oh geez Toledo you got me worried now! There was no sign on transom when I looked at it and it was very clean. Guess the guy cleaned it up good. Did you say that you thought transom had been repaired? I didn’t notice anything that looked like it. But I’ve been fooled before. Hopefully the guy putting motor on will know more about it. And hope I didn’t get screwed over.

I finally got my boat back yesterday. Everything checked out good. Transom has been replaced in this boat and all looks good. Got the motor swapped over and everything ready. Took it to the lake today and boy does it drive like a dream. I love the champion already.

Great looking boat. Had a lot of 202s here in upstate N.Y.. Judging by the pins and carpet looks like an elite. I had a 186 as elite.
