Water's cooling off, a young man's thoughts turn to...

Jerkbaits! What's everyone else's preferred bait/color up here? I've gotten a lot of mileage out of the Cutter in perch, but a silver Rapala Deep gets smallies better for me, on bright/flat days.

This time a year I find myself reaching for the dog and a shotgun....because those birds won't kill themselves ......but if I were reaching for a jerkbait, it would be clown or perch as stated.

You guys are digging Clown in clear water? More than half the baits I carry are some ghost variation and another 1/4 silver...

IMHO if smallmouth are in play clown is Always in the conversation. I’ve caught so many clear water fish with chartreuse or hot pink baits it’s crazy. Btw “Ghost” is another fine choice and if my jerkbaits were all tangled and a Ghost or silver one fell out of the mess I would absolutely have no problem tying it on.

Y'all might want to bleach the color out of those Clown baits. Got to Gregg Lake last night, right after the sun was off the water. Got one on the first cast with a silver deep Rap, missed one on the next throw and got another on the 4th. Got two more before the first star showed up. Not too bad for 40 minutes.
