My G1 is so slow to boot up and respond. Really needs a real processor boost. Maybe this is it? Time will tell. If it's a "righteous" improvement I may go to a 15" G3 slave my G1 to it and mount elsewhere.

So... to summarize the changes that have been identified so far:

    1. New Dual Core Processor
    2. Airmar Transducer ID (auto discovery)
    3. Increased SI+ Range from 400 to 500 feet (250 feet per side)
    4. Increased DI+ Range from 200 to 250 feet
    5. Lower Amperage Draw... down from 4.56 Amps to 4.00 Amps

It hasn't been mentioned yet but the G3 does come with the same transducer as the G2 unit... XM 14 HW MSI T

If I hear of any other differences, I'll update this thread.

Not sure I understand your question. My post just above yours summarizes what I have found that's new so far. I have a Solix 15 SI+ G3 on order and it is supposed to ship sometime in November. I don't expect to find anything new other than what I have already posted though. Not sure what version of the SW it will come with but, whatever version it comes with, it will also be available for download for the G2 as well.

Guess we won't know that until I, or somebody else, gets one. With a dual processor, one would hope that the boot speed would be quicker but we will see.

Smoother and quicker GPS chart response would be nice as well.

HB says they display-scrub tracks to lessen processor load.
Maybe HB will stop display-scrubbing track-points & corrupting tracks.

    Looking for opinion:

    Would you trade a Helix 12G3N for a Solix 15 G2?

Solix units do not have the "N" after, so I'm guessing they are all networkable?

Yes, all the Solix units are networkable. I departed from the "legacy" line (which the Helix is) when the Onix was introduced. Personally, I couldn't imagine going back to a non touchscreen unit. That alone makes the Solix much better in my opinion. There are a number of differences though... Both plus and minus in both camps. It really depends on what is important to you.

There is a pretty sizeable task in learning the new menu structure on the Solix. To get the most out of it, you definitely have to invest the time to thoroughly read the manual and learn the interface and touch techniques. Use it a while and then go back and read the manual again.

I've been keeping an eye on the Humminbird site to see when the Updated Solix G3 Operations/User Guide would be available but it still hasn't been made available. Humminbird did, however, just post a new Apex/Solix Quick Start Guide link in the Apex product detail pages (not in the Support/Manuals section yet). I was wondering if there would be any functional differences between the Apex and Solix units and it does appear that the Home Screen for the Apex has been redesigned to take advantage of the larger screen sizes as well as the higher resolution.

Here is the link to the new Apex/Solix Quick Start Guide... https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.c...SG_532549E.pdf

I'll post a link to the G3 Operations/User Guide when it gets posted. I'm also expecting an update to the Solix G1 & G2 software to be made available when (or shortly after) the Solix G3 starts shipping.

It doesn't look like it will matter which one you prefer there is not a Solix G3 to be found anywhere. I am told by Humminbird that it could be mid January delivery. Has anyone got any updates on this????

I was told by a large dealer "Any Day now" and told by a board sponsor "Mid December- no promises". Hopefully they ship soon.

I'm not into outlaying large amounts of money for a promise of a product the manufacturer never seems to deliver on time. Just look at Mega 360 last year and how long they were on backorder

Well, if I had ANYTHING to use I would have waited, but since I don't have anything to use I pre ordered... I thought about picking up something on BF to use temporarily but spending the extra money just doesn't make any sense.

I haven't seen any confirmation that the Solix G3s are shipping. I did see a picture on Facebook that was supposedly of G3s coming off the assembly line but there was nothing discernable in the picture that would say that they were actually G3 units. Anybody got one yet?

Humminbird did just update the Solix Manuals and post the G1-G2-G3 Operations Manual. I can be retrieved off of the support web page but here is the link: https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.c...684.1587859878

The previous version was 532566-3EN_A but this one is 532566-3EN_B (Rev A vs Rev B).
