I have a 2006 225 HO ETEC. I was out fishing and ran up the river as I was running it would kind of accelerate a little. I got in some areas where I didn't want to run and idled for a little ways. When I went to run again it wouldn't get on pad. It sounded like a lower tone. Maybe bogging down? What could it be?
I had a similar issue (sounded throaty) and my injectors were dirty. Wasn't all the time but every once in awhile it sounded that way then finally had a piston blow from lack of lubrication from the injector.

If it idles normal then it could be the throttle position sensor!

Thanks for the replies. It would idle but kept shutting off. It's at the shop now. Just waiting to hear back.
They said it is a bad injector and they are on backorder
Replaced the #5 injector and the motor runs better than it has in awhile. But man are they expensive. Is there anything I can do to prevent anymore going bad?
do you use seafoam? don't if so.
