    Tach problem?

    04 200 hp
    Mod. # E200FPLRSB
    SER. 03041676
    2004 200 DI MOTOR
Was idling out of the harbor and tach was acting goofy. Sitting at 2000 then bouncing around over 3000 and never went to idle rpm until I started to take off. Ive got video of it but cannot upload here.
Any ideas if its a bad tach or something in my motor?

Connect the laptop to it and monitor the RPM's and compare to the tach.

The motor wasnt changing rpms at all. Just idling smooth as can be.
Im going to have to get another version of the ev-diags. The one I got from amazon or ebay didnt pan out. The maker sent a patch for it but that didnt work either.

Can you recomend a place or person to get it from that actually works?

My motor is a 2005 200hp E200FHLSOR and the manual says the Filter Module (which I believe is a rectifier) can cause issues with the tachometer readings if gone bad. Don’t know if your engine has that part or not. Mines right by the solenoid. Just a shot in the dark as I’m still becoming familiar with these engines.
