    Rod waxing?

Just curious if I’m in a small group that keeps their rod waxed? Fishing rods that is.

I’ve only heard of bamboo fly rods being waxed. Not sure I’d wax my bass rods

Before I tear down my reels after the season, I clean and wax my rods. I use some left over Blue Coral car wax.

If fishing rod are not cleaned and waxed, they will not catch fish.

No waxing fishing rods here. Can't understand why I would want to.

Repelling water may help with the rod/eyes not getting all dirty. I don’t wax mine but I definitely tear them down and clean them every couple months or before a big tourney.

Absolutely! I always wax my rods. I usually do it right after I wax my trailer bunk boards and the underside of my console.

Yep. Once a year, I apply a coat of spray furniture polish. Also, every rod I build or repair gets a coat before leaving my shop.

About December if I'm still not fishing, I clean the cork handles and wax the rods. I then get Xmas out of the way and proceed to tear down my reels and clean them. Come January it is boat and engine maintenance. I'll start fishing again sometime in February. This coming January will be an exception.....I turn 80.....which is hard to believe, but my long term fishing partner has vowed to take me somewhere.....rain, sleet or snow won't get in the way.....we will go some where! It will be a happy day.....

I find the fewer fish caught, the cleaner the gear stays. My stuff sparkles.
