    O2 sensor update

As some of you know, I cleaned up this dirty O2 sensor on my OX66. >> http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=1082837

Well, before I got to test drive it, I went ahead and spliced in a 4-pin connector and installed a new NTK 21006 O2 sensor.
Long story short, she runs much better now. Gained 200 rpms and 2 mph on top end. And, for $50, I can replace it every year when I do the filters and gear oil.

That is exactly what I did. Added the GM female to the harness and it’s a five minute swap.

Depends on which brand harness connector you get. On mine the two white wires were spliced into the pink and black. You'll need to get your new sensor and harness and put them together. That will show you which one gets spliced to each white wire. It's very simple and self explanatory when you look at it. I'll get a picture of mine tonight and add it to this post.

    IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE:

Do NOT attempt to heat shrink the splices if you can smell fuel...for obvious reasons.

Where did you get the connector for the motor side? Is it possible to get the 2 white wires crossed?

    Thanks

Yes it’s possible to cross the white wires. Just look at the original sensor before you cut the wires and compare it to the new sensor hooked up to the new connector. It will be obvious which white wire gets spliced to pink and which one goes to black. Just mark the motor wires before you cut off the old sensor.

All my parts arrived this week. Guess I will make the O2 sensor conversion this Sunday afternoon since it is supposed to be raining, and it's more constructive than watching the Falcons LOL.

Yeah, nothing good can come from watching a Falcons game this year. Unless you’re cheering for the other team!

Good, I figured out the white wires are for the heater and shouldn't matter if crossed or not, although I did connect them in order.

    Thanks

Same thing I did. Took a few minutes to add the Weatherpack connector but now its plug and play and if I think I have an O2 sensor issue in the future, its only $35 to swap in a new one and see. Well worth the little bit of effort it takes.
