Brett Hite Phenix Powe Series Vibrator jig O ring

    Hi
Can anyone explain the intent of the o ring on the eye of the old power series phenix vibrator jig? Finally got one.
I notice the bait raises quickly to surface and has little vibration. Wondering I'm doin something wrong

    patent protection
zman will sue you or any one who puts the blade directly to the hook eye
so lots of manufactures will attach a ring to it

    Joe, thanks
Not talking about the split ring to eye. I'm talking the rubber o ring around the eye at bottom. It's black. To me it prevents more vibrating off the jig head

ok that ring is there so you don't loose the blade
take the O ring out and with some pliers tight the gap on the eye
and the jig will run like its supposed.

So, does that O ring and a slightly open eye on the jighead mean that this design is not in violation of Z Man's patent?

I thought Bret Hite was with evergreen jackhammer? Did he drop out?

This is an old, old bait. Or old at least as vibrating jigs go. Old is relative there.

They stopped making them when Z-man started enforcing their patents aggressively. Hite used to be with Phenix (like 2008-2010 or so; not to be confused with the rod company of the same name) then ended up with Evergreen / Z-Man since he was the bladed jig king.

Figueria's right, if you cut that o-ring off and squeeze the eye down (vise grips would be my tool of choice), you'll be good to go. I've got several that I assume were a little later as they don't have the o-ring and the connection is closed all the way. I've been hanging onto them until it seems like a good time to get the right price out of them. Lots of guys will swear they're the best ever made...they're worth more to them than to me, and only getting more valuable as they're harder to find!

So cut the o ring off. What about the plastic protruding out the jig head which covers bottom part of eye? Prevents the blade from fully swinging back. Seemed like they didn't want the blade to be able to push back. Sorry hard to explain if you don't have new one in hand.

I would remove the plastic also.
The ones I got dont have that plastic
You want the blade to move freely
