As I said above the side plate won't lock all the way, I can only get the sliding button half way up, been like this since I got it. Any help on the would be greatly appreciated.

I have 4 K's and they can be a bit finicky to get the side plate to lock. Make sure the plate is flush to side of the reel before attempting to lock. I have Curado E's, I's and K's and the K's are my favorite.

Back your spool tension knob off. Dan
Dan is spot on ...loosen the tension
