short answer is no. They were installed at the factory with the intent to never be removed again but people have removed them and sometimes during removal it causes fiberglass damage.

Yes they can be removed. Ranger makes a kit for a few model boats to cover the bolt holes. I’ve had a few friends take theirs out after they took them out they had a lot more room. I also had a friend take one out in a model there wasn’t a kit for. He used 3/8” thick plastic and made his own then I cover them in a black vinyl for him. The boat looks great now I will say this it took them all a bunch of time to carefully remove them.

I have a 2001 522vx and just added a console for the wife, now she will go fishing when I go, before she said it wasn't right I had one and she didn't, still lots of room plus I have the deck extension, really like it

I just had my console removed professionally for $600. It's the best decision I have made with the boat. Love it.
