    300 series owners I have a questions....

Those of you running a 300 series with no jackplate, what hole is your engine mounted on? Also what is your setup....boat, engine and prop?

Im trying to setup a friends 373 with an Evinrude 150XP. We are chasing our tail on this setup. I feel that the engine is mounted too high and the props are just slipping and he has tach issues.

    We've run a Michigan 3 blade 13 7/8 x 23, Trophy 23", Powertech RKR 25" and a Shooter 27"

The performance of the props that I feel should have been correct were horrible on every level. He says that the 27 Shooter gave him the best topend with an almost instant holeshot!?!?!

His engine is mounted all the way up and a quick check of P2P has it about 4 1/2ish BTP. I didn't have much time to mess with it but I think that the larger props were working well because the prop is slipping so much and they were providing enough bite for it to appear to work better.

I wish his tach was working properly but every prop we ran that day the boat barely broke 50MPH.

Let me know what you think.
    Thanks!

When I first got my boat it ran a 27 Shooter at 5500 and 63 mph but then it blew and have rebuild just never got the old performance back the original was a HOT one that never got detuned lol my motor is on the lowest hole so it sits as high as it can off the transom

Did you mean a Shooter? That was OMC's older 4 blade prop. As far as I know Raker has always been a 3 blade.

    My old 363 with a Johnson 150GT and 10” plate sure liked a PowerTech 21 pitch TR04.

Thanks fellas! I think once we get the tach squared away it will help dial some things in. I just couldn't understand why no matter what prop we ran it could not break 50-51MPH.

Almost sounds like he has a long shaft motor on there, if it's mounted all the way up and he is at 4.5 to pad. Something to think about...
