So I have an Elite 9TI with Navionics card. I want to have depth shading. I assume I have to buy a C-Map Card? The $35 card is not for the Elite TI and you already have to have C-Map loaded?

It will not work on a carbon.

C-Map Genesis and the regular C-Map cards will though. Example of shading using the Genesis layer on a C-Map card.

I have been using the Contour + card in Carbons since it came out. Works the same in Carbons or Lives. It also works in Lowrance older units although it seems slow to load. I have used in my Kayaks with Lowrance elite's and on Jon boat with HDS Gen 2 Touch. I think and bet that soon they will start selling and marketing the $35. contour + card for more money for most all of the Lowrance units over the last few generations.

Shading only works on certain lakes and areas. I believe C-Map even with the addition of the Enhanced chip, has only charted lakes in the East and South. I set up custom color shading on my Lowrance Live and the function would not work on any Western lakes. I then moved the map to lakes in North and South Carolina, maintaining the same settings, and the color shading worked fine. I'm continuing to use Navionics Platinum Hot Maps which work well. Hope this helps.
