    Lowrance C Map

Just got a 2020 Ranger with Lowrance units and it has C Map on the unit. Always used Navionics. Is this the latest/ best C Map on the new units or is there an upgrade? Contour lines and map don’t look as good as the Navionics chip.

    Thanks for the feedback.

No, the buildt in mapping is by no means the most updated mapping available.

Which Lowrance Units are you running? If Live, there was a up to date C-map card special for $35. I don’t know if that is still available but if the water you are fishing is covered then I would say the C-map is better.

CMap Contour + can be the best mapping available if you are lucky enough to fish one of the HD lakes they already mapped, otherwise the Navionics maps are likely better for the majority of the lakes. Of course making your own maps with your new units will produce even better maps.

Not sure about your area but where I'm at C-Map don't have near the detail as Navionics

If available get the Cmap Precision Contour. It's actually been mapped.

Here's the difference. . These are two spots with different maps. The Cmap Contour and the Cmap Precision Contour..

I bought 2 Elite 9Ti2 units that supposedly have 11,000+ US Inland Maps preloaded. Went to Cape Cod last week and every lake I was on didn't show up on either unit. Both units say they each have Navionics and C-Map installed but not one lake showed up on either setting. Waypoints and tracking showed up...but not one lake I was on. Needless to say I was a bit pissed off after spending close to $2000 for these units and my cheap Garmin Echomaps that I replaced showed every Cape Cod lake with the basic preloaded mapping.

Have a look at the recently released C-Map N+ series.

I have just ordered the Queensland map that covers the Great Barrier Reef after seeing one on demo at the local chandlery. The bathymetric detail is stunning.

They do have versions for Us lakes, details found here:

A source for that info would be good, as my info is somewhat different.

Like others have said, "depends on where you fish." My Live 12 came with pre-loaded C-Map and I added the Enhanced C-Map. I fish California and Western lakes and found the Navionics to be far more detailed and just a better map overall for the region. Roy at Wacky Riggers was kind enough to contact C-Map, they indicated the West has not been thoroughly mapped by them. Lakes and river systems east of Texas are much more detailed. Pretty generic in other areas, and you cannot shade depth contours.

[QUOTE=Team Colibri Colibri this map is for precision contour hd maps us lakes only , in 1 ft contours, that lowrance is selling for $35, it's basically a free upgrade. Newly purchased hds live 12 and 16 will have these already installed.
