That place sucks now...4 yr been the same, walley bite good and thats all....just better options now.
I've had similar experiences the last two years. Have a trip planned in two weeks but debating it.

Never thought I'd see the day people were complaining because of how good the walleye bite is over the smallmouth on Oneida. Everything is cyclical on grass lakes she will be back soon

Hey bam, alotta options for smallmouth. I live about 15 minutes from otsego and the mohawk. Otsego and the town of Cooperstown are not the greatest destination from baltimore. Fishing is iffy, bass not very big. Mohawk is a possible choice but a good rain storm can muddy the water and screw up your hole trip. If you are coming up later this month, weather can be an issue. You might wanna consider some Adirondack lakes, raquette, blue mountain, long lake. Upper hudson, champlain.

I don't know, fished Thursday in the Oneida river, had about 15lbs,could only catch them when there was some current, spent all day Friday in the lake 7-530 caught 5 and they were all dandys, probably 20 lbs, caught more walleyes than bass, saturday was awful, winds forcasted for light and variable, ended up being about 20mph sustained out of the west, caught 2 all day but they were good ones, oneida has definatly changed over the years, the quality is a lot better the quanity is not there,id like to head back up in another couple weeks to see,i think it will get better

How was Skaneateles? It was one of the MLF lakes and it seemed like it produced for that format.

I just finished today, got here Sunday afternoon. Beautiful lake, caught my first big lake trout ever after scouting around for the day. Until a local told me, I didn't know they spawn in the fall, explains why it was shallow! Caught some small smallies too. Monday called for 5-10 mph SE winds, got up, winds are more like 15-20, could not get on the lake, it was like the ocean!! So Tuesday it is better, but still crazy winds, they changed direction all day long. I am seeing nice smallies chase my jerkbait, but they won't bite...throw a ned rig or dropshot, only small fish will bite. Today the wind was strong, but only changed direction once, caught a couple of 3 pounders, but again, mostly small ones even when I see a lot of big ones chasing the lure! Also caught really big perch on the ned today, but I wanted the bronzebacks. The weather folks were wrong all four days, but u guys probably experience that a lot! I really could of used a TM with spot lock, it was tough to stay on a spot when I saw them on the graph. Head home tmw, locals tell me loads of big lake trout will really come in shallow over the next 2 weeks to spawn.
