Darryl I did my repower with the V8 on my 2009 Z21 Intracoastal in July 2018. You will find that a trued up 23P Fury with all PVS plugged will allow you to get the 6200 rpms necessary for this engine to operate at peak performance and economy. I swap to a 24P in the fall/winter to knock the increased rpms down.

No BS. Nothing but Merc monitor data.
Be aware a box prop that has not been true pitched will not perform like this.

Well got out today and put about 3 hours on the new four stroke
what a beast. Went from running all plugs wide open to solid plugs in all
8 holes. Hole shot out of this world. Opened her up for about 10 seconds
today and saw 73 on gps. 6000 rpm.

I guess I never understood that expression. Of course there are go fast boats, like Allison, Bullet, Stroker, etc, but most of the major brands aren’t any faster than low 70’s when loaded. Phoenix, Skeeter, etc. Many are even slower, Caymus and Nitro, for example.

That is a great run. As Mike mentioned, the key is to get as close to 6200 RPM as possible and to do that, getting the prop true pitched is needed. I swear I smile every time during the holeshot with the new Merc. My wife went with me yesterday and said it sounds so cool. For my wife to say it......it must

Darryl once it's broke in you'll be able to fine tune it with the prop truing and get that magic 6200 rpms. The cooler weather does affect the 4 stroke so what you see at 50-60° will be different at 90° air temp.
