    Cowan question

Can I fish with my bass boat there if I only use my trolling motor?

Im trying to find a decent lake to take my dad out bass fishing before the weather turns. He can’t handle the cold/waves and bouncing around in the boat all day, so I figure I can take him to Cowan and catch some bass.

i know it’s a 10 horse restriction lake and that’s fine; I just want to know if I will have any issues using my Triton on the lake using only my trolling motor. Thx!

Laydowns on dam end. Pads/grass on opposite end. You can definitely catch alot of fish in there 12-14"

Island is mostly shallow water with rocks Also the lake has few steep mud banks. It’s a little cruise to the island with the trolling motor.

Been fishing it since 1965....from the middle up into the pads and creek and the couple coves especially the campsite cove/ramp are really good. Water is clear and bass are biting,,,Stacking shad now in the coves. Clear zora spook or white buzzbait for the topwater. Pegged worm casting/flipping the cover/structure. There are a few submerged humps/holes around the camp site ramp and towards the island. I use rattletraps and crank baits and carolina rigged zoom finesse worm on an 18 inch leader around them.....good luck.

Stopped stocking musky back in the late 80's/early 90's if I remember right, same as Rocky Fork. Last one I caught was 1992. Probably none left since they dont reproduce in these waters.

After fishing it 2-3 times a week for the past 30 or so years and seeing the last one I caught way back when,,,,like they say in Missouri, show me. They may be a surviving reproducing population but if so, they are far and few between casts. Cowan is not the ideal watershed to support reproduction of musky. There is a population of Pike in Cowan Creek and the Little Miami and Todds Fork though people are not aware of..We used to catch musky in Todds Fork back in the 70's and 80's that flowed over the Cowan spillway. Always fun on light tackle.
