Worst O2 sensor I’ve ever seen!

Should run a little better now!
The holder and the joint were just as bad. It took me a couple of hours and a lot of seafoam to clean up this mess.
The hole through the joint was closed off with solid carbon build up. I'm pretty sure the previous owner did a lot of short, low rpm runs with this motor.

Might double check to make sure sensor is even working. Just cleaned mine. Sensor itself was pretty clean. But, housing and tube that goes in block was a solid block of carbon.

You can replace the O2 sensor with a NTK O2 sensor. Either splice the wires in use a wire harness.

Which NTK sensor? I'd love to splice in the harness and be able to affordably replace it every year.

I replace mine with the NTK 21006 every year just like it’s a maintenance part. Keeps it running good.
but I never have any carbon in the O2 when I do change them. Pennzoil Prem plus and seafoam seem to work well for me.

Russ, what type of disconnect harness did you install?

This is the one I'm buying. Found it in an older post. Several people have said it works perfect.

Is this a connector you would use from the O2 to the wiring harness without cutting and splicing?

No, it will need to be spliced in, then you can change out the NTK 21006 sensor as often as you want.
Pretty easy too. It's only 4 wires.

Look in the "How To" repair section. I think there are two different links...they've been there for years.
