Motor guide xi5 lower unit replacement.
Got water in my lower unit and ended up toasting the thing. Rather than do brushes, bushings, seals, and armature, I ordered a whole new lower unut.
How does the shaft come out of the lower unit? Is it epoxied or something?
Maybe one time use, and needs replaced with lower?
The cave man in me says beat it off with a mallet, but I want to verify with someone knowledgeable first.

Never mind. I found my answer. Guess I'm getting a slightly longer shaft then. :)

You also have to use a special locktite for reinstalling. I don't remember the number, but it comes in a two part mixture and mixes like an epoxy. A service center can tell you the locktite number.

I had that epoxy in the shop and it work, but took 24 hours for it to set and it was still a little tacky. I let it set for another 24 and it dried. I paid like $45 dollars for it. It went bad before I could use it all. So what I did was tried the 277 Loctite with primer on the X5/XI5 shafts and it works the same as it does on Minn Kota. You have to use the primer or it will not set. I have the link for both below.
