Thru Hull gt8 losing bottom and depth

Ok so I mounted my gt8 about three to four inches in front of the old hummingbird one towards front of boat that I could not get out.. correct transducers are selected on console 126 graph gt34 and gt8 but I am losing bottom and depth as soon as I get going like 20 mph.. uggh gt8 is on chirp signal.. says 19 degree beam I believe..

Sounds like it's just not in the sweet spot....when on plane, that part of the boat is not touching water so no signal, if that's the issue.

I've done this on other transducers over the years. I very carefully ( got lucky ) in getting it broke loose from the hull. Then I used a dremel tool to clean it up a little and reinstalled. So far it has always worked several times. Removing one is the critical point. I think I use a fairly sharp chisel and some gentle finesse to break it loose.

At 20 mph you won't have enough of the hull out of water (air gap between hull and water) for you to loose bottom. Check what frequency it is on. On a similar setup I had to change the frequency setting to at least 200 in order to get a reading when running.
