I consistently read about the NRX 894C being tip heavy. It is also often mentioned as the gold standard for jig fishing. I have an Antares 70. Does anyone have that combo? If so, how is the balance?

I don't remember my 894C being tip heavy at all... My 895C however, was very tip heavy.
Good luck

I have a 894 and it feel good. There a really light rod to start with as well. I think we just judge a $500 rod a little harder on ballace and probably should for that matter. I have a steez bottom contact rod and it balances better but is a heaver rod too. Both rods have sv reels.
I fished my 894's for several years with no issue then I got tennis elbow in my right arm and then about 4 months later in my left as the right was heeling. I now counterbalance mine. I'm fishing 6.8oz reels. A bit heavier reel will help a touch but I would counter balance it. I love the 894's.

Core 50 on mine with upgraded gears and drag. Very light reel that I balance with some weight in the but of the rod.
