    Garmin 1222 installation

What gauge wire is recommended for powering a garmin 1222? I was told ten but splicing ten gauge into that tiny wire on the power cable doesn’t seem right to me...any advice would appreciated

10 awg wire would be best. The larger wire is needed to minimize voltage drop.

10 AWG is the deal. For the smaller wire...tin it if you can and double or triple it up when you splice. Another options is to use a piece of the 10 AWG wire as a "filler" on the small wire side of the splice to take up the extra volume.

10 awg worked for me. They do make 10-12 awg to 14-16 awg heat shrink splices, or double it up.
